Seneca Valley School District Hosts Friendship Walk

For the second year in a row, the Seneca Valley School District held a Best Buddies satellite walk at Haine Elementary! With more than 250 attendees this year, the community came together in full force to raise awareness and funds in support of inclusion, ultimately raising over $7,000 for Best Buddies in Pennsylvania.
The event, hosted in collaboration with the national Best Buddies Friendship Walk initiative, is part of an ongoing effort to foster inclusion and celebrate individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Each year, the Seneca Valley walk grows in size and impact, thanks in large part to the passion and dedication of students, families, and school staff.
A huge thank you goes out to Haine Elementary advisor Dr. Kathy Mahon, whose leadership and planning made the day a meaningful success. Her efforts have helped bring together a diverse group of supporters united around a shared mission of friendship and belonging.
Megan Rodgers, Best Buddies Pennsylvania Lead Program Manager, attended the walk and reflected on the experience:
“Being at the Seneca Valley Walk this past weekend was truly inspiring. The energy from teachers, staff, students, and families created such a positive and inclusive atmosphere. It’s incredible to witness what a community can achieve when everyone shows up with purpose and heart. I am SO thankful to work with Kathy Mahon on this initiative she is absolutely incredible at spreading the mission of Best Buddies!”
As the walk continues to grow each year, so does the message behind it, that inclusion isn’t just a goal; it’s a movement. Thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s event unforgettable. We can’t wait to see what next year brings!
