Fallon DeRiggi Named 2026 Rookie of the Year

Fallon DeRiggi, Pittsburgh’s Director of Development for Best Buddies Pennsylvania, has been named the 2026 Rookie of the Year at the organization’s Annual Staff Leadership Conference, held this past January. In her very first year with Best Buddies, Fallon has made an extraordinary impact—showcasing energy, vision, and heart that have strengthened both the Pittsburgh chapter and the organization statewide.
Since joining Best Buddies in early 2025, Fallon has built meaningful connections with local partners, expanded the organization’s visibility in Pittsburgh, and elevated community engagement in remarkable ways. Her leadership was especially evident through TasteBuds, one of the largest events in the country. Under Fallon’s guidance, the event welcomed 1,000 guests and raised a record-breaking \$382,000, uniting the city around Best Buddies’ mission of inclusion and friendship. Colleagues describe Fallon as a true force of energy and creativity, someone who steps confidently into challenges and inspires everyone around her.

Fallon’s dedication to Best Buddies goes far beyond professional accomplishments. She has fully embraced the organization’s mission, and her friendship with her buddy, Kaitlyn Anderson, formed through the Buddy March program, exemplifies this commitment. Their relationship is rooted in joy, consistency, and mutual respect. Fallon reflects,
“Kaitlyn has taught me as much as I hope I’ve taught her. Our friendship is a daily reminder of why inclusion matters.”
Their bond highlights the personal side of Best Buddies’ work—the meaningful, life-changing friendships at the heart of everything the organization does.
Even while navigating significant personal health challenges, Fallon has remained fully devoted to her work. She contributes with resilience, grace, and unwavering dedication. Her colleagues say she is a “joy center” for the team, always bringing positivity, humor, and generosity to every interaction, while strengthening the organization culturally as well as operationally.

Fallon’s accomplishments reflect the very best of Best Buddies: strong leadership, compassion, and a deep commitment to inclusion. Her Rookie of the Year recognition celebrates not only her professional achievements but also the personal connections she has fostered and the mission she lives every day.
With her dedication, energy, and heart, Fallon DeRiggi continues to inspire everyone at Best Buddies in Pennsylvania—and beyond.
