Chef Buddy Luncheon Kicks Off TasteBuds Season
On Monday, September 22, excitement for TasteBuds Pittsburgh officially kicked off with our annual Chef Buddy Luncheon — a heartwarming afternoon where participating chefs met their Best Buddies sous chefs for the very first time.
The atmosphere was filled with energy, laughter, and creativity as chefs and their new sous chefs connected over delicious food, fun activities, and shared passions. Each pair took time to get to know one another, swapping stories, discussing favorite recipes, and beginning to dream up what they’ll create together for the big TasteBuds event. It was a true celebration of inclusion and friendship — the perfect start to this season’s culinary journey.
Throughout the afternoon, the teams decorated colorful visors, posed for photos in our cookie photo booth (where their pictures were printed right onto cookies!), and showcased their personalities in every smile and conversation. You could feel the excitement growing in the room as these new friendships formed — each one representing the true heart of the Best Buddies mission: creating opportunities for friendship, inclusion, and community for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
We were also thrilled to introduce this year’s incredible Champion of the Year candidates — individuals who are leading the way in raising awareness and support for Best Buddies. Their passion and commitment will help make TasteBuds 2024 our most impactful event yet. A special thank-you goes to our dynamic emcee, Channing Powell, who will bring her energy and enthusiasm to the stage on event night and help make the evening shine even brighter.
