Westendorf, Laura Brackett, and a very special guest—Beanie, a non-human Champion candidate—who is competing for Champion of the Year at the upcoming Best Buddies Gala in Wisconsin. This marks a historic moment for the organization, as Beanie becomes the first non-human candidate to be nominated for this prestigious title.

Beanie, a trained service dog, has become a symbol of unconditional support and companionship. Known for her gentle demeanor and tireless advocacy (with a little help from her human friends), Beanie is raising awareness and funds to expand Best Buddies programs across Wisconsin. Her campaign invites supporters to donate, sponsor tables, or contribute auction items in her name—all of which count toward her Champion of the Year totals.

The gala, titled “Celebrating the Magic of Friendship,” will take place on November 6, 2025, at the Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee.
