Champion of the Year is an annual fundraising competition organized by the Best Buddies staff, event committee and advisory board, featuring a select group of individuals, professionals and community leaders. These philanthropic trailblazers compete to raise the most funds for Best Buddies and earn the ultimate title of Champion of the Year.
Join us at the Best Buddies Friendship Walk, the number one walk in the country raising awareness and funds to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The walk plays a key role in funding Best Buddies programs dedicated to one-to-one friendships, leadership development, and integrated job opportunities for individuals with IDD.

Before Cristina, my last peer buddy Mary Ann passed away from stage four Colon Cancer. It was sad! But I didn’t want to give up on the Best Buddy Program. I wanted a new buddy who was near my age and didn’t live far from me … that’s when Cristina came to the rescue! She is so awesome! I want to influence people out there to join this wonderful program, it will better/change your life!
Best Buddies Month is a time for Best Buddies participants to reflect on the importance of friendship, jobs, and the development of future leaders. Most importantly, it is a time to show the world the significance of these essentials in every individual’s life.
