The disability rights movement has made significant strides over the past decades, fighting against discrimination to advance equal access and inclusion. An ongoing challenge, however, remains expanding competitive integrated employment, where people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) can earn livable wages and contribute their talents in regular workplace settings.

MIAMI (WSVN) - Cyclists took South Florida on a ride for a cause Saturday evening to support the mission statement of Best Buddies. The event comes in the wake of the organization’s 26th Gala, where it aimed to celebrate and honor the dedication of supporters, participants, and volunteers. Cycling legends Chris Froome, Alberto Contador, Geraint Thomas, and Mark Cavendish were in attendance for the 75 to 100-mile ride.
Best Buddies Internationa is thrilled to present its Best Buddies Challenge: Miami Chaired by Kenneth C. Griffin and Griffin Catalyst and Presented by the Andrew P. Barowsky Foundation, and Mack Cycle & Fitness, and the Jersey Mike’s Subs Best Buddies Miami Gala on Saturday, November 15 at MANA Wynwood. Collectively, this year’s bike ride and Gala are expected to raise $5 million for Best Buddies programs.

More than 8,500 people have signed up to take part in the annual Dolphins Cancer Challenge this year. Among those hitting the streets with a purpose is Anthony Shriver, the CEO of Best Buddies. His nonprofit organization promotes inclusion for those with disabilities.
