Best Buddies Living comes to New York City!

Best Buddies Living, an inclusive residential program launched in 2019, has expanded across the country, including its first-ever New York location in Manhattan, set to open its doors on May first!
The Best Buddies Living program represents one of our organization’s five key mission pillars, Inclusive Living. This program fosters an integrated experience for people with and without IDD to become active, contributing citizens who live independently in a dynamic environment where they can learn, grow, and thrive.
Residents will live with two roommates, each with their own bedroom and bathroom. They will participate in weekly group activities and dinners while receiving ongoing support from Best Buddies staff to help them achieve their personal goals.
Best Buddies Living is unlike any other residential program—it brings people with and without disabilities together as roommates, working together to build a vibrant, supportive community where friendships are formed, and independence is nurtured.
The community comprises three spacious three-bedroom, three-bathroom apartments, with each resident enjoying their own private bedroom and bathroom while sharing a fully equipped kitchen and inviting living spaces. The building features a wide range of high-end amenities, including an arcade, bowling alley, spa, indoor and outdoor pools, pickleball and basketball courts, and much more!
To further ensure a safe and nurturing environment, the residency includes a full-time on-site residential manager, who is on-call for emergency support, coordinates weekly group dinners, and organizes weekly social events.
“Best Buddies has enabled us to let go, which in turn has helped [our son] gain independence he never would have achieved if he were still living with us,” said the parent of a Best Buddies Living resident. “Parents of people with disabilities will tell you that letting go is the hardest thing to do. Best Buddies makes it much easier.”
The Living program is open to individuals over the age of 18 who are ready to embrace independent living. Residents are asked to participate in weekly group meals and activities, maintain or seek employment/volunteerism or attend a higher education/day program.
