WKU Hosts Unforgettable Night of Inclusion at Fashion for Friendship

The Western Kentucky University Best Buddies chapter recently hosted its annual Fashion for Friendship event — and what an unforgettable night it truly was. Each year, this celebration grows in energy, creativity, and impact, and the 2026 event was no exception. The evening brought together students, Buddies, campus organizations, and supporters for a joyful, high‑spirited showcase of inclusion that lit up the entire ballroom.
Fashion for Friendship pairs members of the Best Buddies chapter with a variety of student organizations across Western Kentucky University. Each organization is matched with a Buddy, forming a team that spends time preparing outfits, building connections, and embracing the excitement leading up to the show. By the time they reach the runway, these pairs are not just walking together — they are celebrating friendships that reflect the heart of the Best Buddies mission.
Participants proudly walked the catwalk, showcasing far more than their fashion choices. Their confidence, self‑expression, and joy radiated through the room as the audience cheered, clapped, and celebrated every step. The energy was truly contagious, with students, families, and friends lifting one another up in a way that made the night feel both meaningful and magical.

A high‑energy halftime performance only added to the excitement, keeping the crowd on their feet and creating a lively atmosphere that carried through the remainder of the show. The performance served as a reminder that Fashion for Friendship is not just a runway event — it is a full community celebration.
This year, the event was honored to welcome the executive team from John Hardin High School, along with their advisor and WKU Best Buddies alum, Kyah Neal, who served as a guest judge. Their presence added an extra layer of connection between statewide Best Buddies programs.
Events like Fashion for Friendship remind us what Best Buddies is all about — creating a world where everyone belongs.
