An ‘Epic’ Friendship: Clara and Hudson Show the Power of Belonging

Clara Page (left of picture) and Hudson Friedrich (right of picture) have been matched for a year at Roosevelt High Schools’s Best Buddies chapter. Clara has been a part of the chapter for 3 years now and then Hudson has been in the chapter for 2 years. Their motivation to join Best Buddies was to both be more involved, make new friends, and have a greater, positive impact on their school and Community.
“I enjoy being in Best Buddies and encourage everyone to join the Best Buddies chapter at their school because Best Buddies provides opportunities to include everyone and make life-long friends. By joining Best Buddies, you get to meet some of the best people you’ll ever know. You will also gain leadership and communication skills. It is the best decision I have ever made!” Clara shared.
Some achievements the duo have accomplished are for one, Clara has been the chapter Vice President for the last two years and will be the Chapter President next School year. Clara has also helped grow the program from about 5 members to around 50. Hudson’s biggest achievement has been with being matched with Clara.
"Clara helps me stay focused”. Hudson said.

Clara and Hudson have many memories while being a part of Best Buddies. They love to hang out at Best Buddies events, play tag, run around, and going to Dave & Busters! Clara’s all time favorite memory with Hudson was attending Roosevelt’s holiday party and making ornaments. Hudson’s favorite memory while being in Best Buddies is when they go to Dave & Busters while playing games with friends.
Clara’s message that she would like to share with others in the community about the importance of inclusion and friendship is that inclusion is extremely important and everyone should value friendship and unity within their community.
“Through inclusion, communities are far more positive and welcoming, creating a safe space for all individuals. No matter who they are, what they look like, or their abilities”. Clara said.
Hudsons’ message he would like to share about the importance of inclusion and friendships is that everyone should join because it is ‘epic’!
