Message from our State Director

Lezlye Zupkus, State Director
The goals and needs of Connecticut were many in 2014. The previous State Director had resigned, we needed to build an advisory board that would help bring new people into the Best Buddies family, creates awareness so that Best Buddies will start to become a household name and increase our revenues through individual giving, events and corporate sponsors.
As for the board, we have been able to recruit new members that have a network of people to reach out to and are focused on a strategy to grow our state. We were able to get a lot of press releases in papers across the state in order to begin to promote Best Buddies Connecticut and share the great things that are happening. It was so effective that we have a wait list of over 35 schools. We have been able to induct a few new people into our Rose Society and formed new relationships with corporations and individuals that are not familiar with Best Buddies. This took a lot of hard, but fun work and in the midst of building name recognition in Connecticut we had 100% staff turnover.
Moving forward our goals for the upcoming year include building on the base that we are creating so that Best Buddies Connecticut will thrive, grow, become a household name while staying true to our mission!
