Wyoming’s Momentum at the Best Buddies Leadership Conference

The impact of Best Buddies International continues to grow across the state of Wyoming, and one chapter in particular helped lead that charge in a powerful way last year. Cheyenne East High School brought its largest delegation ever to the Best Buddies Leadership Conference (BBLC), marking a major milestone for inclusion, leadership, and student engagement across the state.

For students from Wyoming, BBLC wasn’t just a conference, it was an experience that sparked ideas, built confidence, and strengthened the belief that inclusion can grow anywhere. The energy from the event carried far beyond the conference walls and returned home with real momentum.
Across Wyoming, the Best Buddies movement continues to expand, now engaging more than 1,000 members statewide and creating meaningful friendships in schools and communities of all sizes. Cheyenne East High School alone now has over 40 active members this year, reflecting the continued growth and enthusiasm within the chapter.
But perhaps one of the most inspiring outcomes of last year’s BBLC experience came directly from a student voice. After attending the conference and learning about the Friendship Walk, a Cheyenne East student was inspired to bring that idea back home ultimately creating their own Friendship Walk-style event at their school. What started as a moment of learning turned into action, showing just how powerful student leadership can be when given the opportunity to grow.

That ripple effect is exactly what BBLC is designed to inspire: students returning home not just motivated, but equipped to lead, connect, and build inclusive spaces in their own communities.
From Cheyenne East’s growing chapter to the expanding statewide network, Wyoming continues to show what is possible when students are empowered to lead with inclusion at the center.
