At West Virginia University, the Best Buddies International chapter on campus is full of life and dedicated to creating meaningful connections. Through monthly events, one-to-one friendships, and leadership opportunities, the chapter is helping build a more inclusive community both on campus and throughout the state of West Virginia. The student-led organization works to ensure that individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) have opportunities to build genuine friendships, grow as leaders, and feel a true sense of belonging.
At WVU, we believe inclusion isn’t optional; it’s essential! The chapter actively brings students together through social gatherings, group activities, and advocacy efforts that promote understanding and acceptance. These opportunities allow members with and without IDD to connect, learn from one another, and build lasting friendships that extend beyond the classroom. Throughout the year, members can be found planning events, celebrating milestones, and creating spaces where everyone is welcomed exactly as they are.
