Best Buddies in Pennsylvania has been fortunate to have the unwavering support of PHLY Insurance, a member of the Tokio Marine Group, in our efforts to create a more inclusive world for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) for ten years! PHLY Insurance’s dedication to our cause has been instrumental in the growth and success of our programs across the state of Pennsylvania.

One of the most significant contributions from PHLY Insurance has been their support in launching our elementary school programs. These programs are crucial in fostering early friendships and promoting understanding and inclusion from a young age. By introducing children to the values of acceptance and empathy, we are able to build a more inclusive community for future generations. PHLY’s financial and volunteer support has been key in implementing these programs successfully, allowing us to reach more schools and students across the state. When their support started we had no elementary programs, and today we have over 20 in the state of Pennsylvania!

PHLY Insurance’s continued support has enabled Best Buddies to expand our reach and impact significantly. Additionally, with their help, we have been able to grow our middle school, high school, and college programs, providing more opportunities for individuals with and without IDD to develop meaningful, lifelong friendships. Their contributions have ensured that our programs remain sustainable and continue to thrive.

The Friendship Walk is one of our most significant events, raising awareness and funds for our mission. PHLY Insurance has been a steadfast supporter of this event, participating actively, fundraising, and encouraging others to join. Their involvement not only boosts our fundraising efforts but also highlights the importance of corporate engagement in community initiatives!

PHLY Insurance has also shown a strong interest in our Ambassador Trainings, where individuals with IDD receive training in public speaking, self-advocacy, and leadership skills. By participating in these trainings, PHLY employees have had the opportunity to interact directly with our ambassadors, learning from their experiences and supporting their development. This engagement helps to break down barriers and create a more inclusive corporate culture.

Most recently, PHLY Insurance invited Best Buddies to present during National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). This opportunity allowed us to highlight the importance of inclusive employment practices and the positive impact of hiring individuals with IDD. PHLY’s initiative in hosting this presentation underscores their commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
