Philadelphia Program Manager Olivia Steckman has been named the 2024 Program Manager of the Year by Best Buddies International, an honor bestowed during this year’s annual staff conference. This prestigious recognition underscores Olivia’s exceptional contributions to advancing the mission of inclusion, friendship, and empowerment for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Olivia, who joined the organization just over a year ago, has quickly established herself as a leader with unparalleled dedication and passion. Her work ethic and enthusiasm have transformed the landscape of Best Buddies programming in Pennsylvania. Samantha Civitate, Pennsylvania State Director, described Olivia as “a well-rounded leader who takes on every task with enthusiasm and an unrelenting commitment to excellence.” Samantha added, “She is the best I have seen in a decade.”

With a caseload of over 70 school chapters, Olivia’s focus remains firmly on the participants. Her remarkable ability to connect with people has made every volunteer, student leader, and advisor feel valued and loved. Whether remembering countless names or fostering meaningful relationships, her personal touch has strengthened the bonds that sustain Best Buddies’ mission.

Olivia’s accomplishments are nothing short of extraordinary. She has organized Middle School and High School Buddy Balls involving over 20 schools, maintained a 95% Chapter President selection rate for two consecutive years, and developed a self-sustaining Student Advisory Board. Beyond programming, she’s spearheaded creative statewide initiatives like bracelet and holiday exchanges and tailored training programs for schools. She also was recently named to the 2024-2025 class of the 5-Star Programs Team for the Organization.

Her fundraising prowess is equally impressive, with Olivia raising approximately $40,000 in Friendship Walk revenue through school and Citizens teams. She also brought a record number of participants to the Best Buddies Leadership Conference during her first year in attendance.
