Best Buddies Citizens in Franklin County continues to make a powerful impact by fostering one-to-one friendships between adults with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). One inspiring example is the friendship between Michael and Colton, who have been part of the Best Buddies Citizens program for nearly two years. Their bond is rooted in mutual respect, shared interests, and a genuine appreciation for each other’s company. From casual hangouts to exciting new experiences, their friendship exemplifies the mission of Best Buddies—to build a more inclusive world, one friendship at a time.

Their most recent adventure? Skydiving. Michael and Colton took the leap—literally—proving that their friendship isn’t just strong, but fearless. The thrill of freefalling from thousands of feet in the air was more than just a bucket list item; it was a testament to the trust and encouragement they give each other. Colton said after the jump:

“I cannot wait for my next skydiving adventure with Michael.”

And Michael added:

We are looking for adult volunteers to be in one-to-one friendship matches! When you sign up for Best Buddies Citizens, we promise jumping out of planes is not a requirement! You simply will complete an application, complete a background check, and be matched with somebody with similar interests. When you agree to a match you all agree to get together once a month for one year! You also will attend super cool events with other members of this program.
