MSU Best Buddies Welcomes Football Team for a Day of Friendship and Fun

East Lansing, MI –
Michigan State University’s Best Buddies chapter recently hosted a special event that brought together members with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) for an afternoon of crafts, board games, and meaningful connection. This event was extra special as members of the MSU football team joined in, showing their support for the chapter’s mission of inclusion on campus.
“Having our MSU football team attend one of our events for some fun crafts and board games meant a lot to our members and me. It’s super impactful to have their support towards our mission of inclusivity on MSU’s campus since a lot of people look up to our student athletes. I was really happy to organize this collaboration because I’ve often found that once people get to know our club and what we’re all about, they want to continue to collaborate! Shout out to our awesome members for fostering such a kind and fun environment. I think the future is bright for MSU Best Buddies, with more fun hangouts and events to come,” said Luke Braun, Chapter President.
The event provided members with an opportunity to connect with one another and with student-athletes in a welcoming environment. Participants engaged in creative activities and interactive games, strengthening relationships and fostering a sense of community. By partnering with the football team, the chapter highlighted how inclusivity can reach across campus and inspire others to get involved.

This event is a prime example of the chapter’s mission: to create inclusive spaces where members feel valued, empowered, and supported. MSU Best Buddies offers leadership opportunities, social events, and collaborative experiences that help members form friendships and contribute positively to the campus community.
Looking ahead, the chapter is excited to continue hosting events that strengthen connections and promote inclusion. As Luke noted, the future is bright for MSU Best Buddies members, with more engaging activities and opportunities to come.
