The 2025–2026 school year brought opportunities for Best Buddies chapters across Utah to build friendships, create inclusive communities and find meaningful ways to come together. Each year, Best Buddies International recognizes chapters that demonstrate a commitment to their members and the mission of inclusion through the Outstanding Chapter of the Year awards.

This year in Utah, Wahlquist Middle School, Cyprus High School and Utah State University were recognized for their contributions throughout the school year.

At Wahlquist Middle School, more than 60 members entered their chapter and helped make inclusion a regular part of the school experience. Throughout the year, members came together for activities including the Plain City Christmas Parade, pancake socials and donut fundraisers. These events gave students opportunities to connect, have fun and build a chapter community that extended beyond the classroom.

Cyprus High School also kept its members connected throughout the year. With approximately 20 members and 1:1 matches, the chapter participated in monthly holiday celebrations and found opportunities to support the Best Buddies mission throughout the school year. The chapter also raised close to $100 for the Best Buddies in Utah Friendship Walk, giving students another way to show their support for friendship and inclusion in their community.

At Utah State University, members continued building community through activities that brought their chapter together. The year concluded with a chapter talent show, giving members an opportunity to share their personalities, talents and creativity with one another. The event was a memorable way to celebrate the friendships and experiences built throughout the school year.

As a new school year begins, these chapters have an opportunity to build on the foundation they created in 2025–2026. From school traditions and community events to fundraising and chapter celebrations, each experience contributes to a more inclusive community.
