The 2025 Best Buddies Michigan Friendship Walk was a milestone celebration, bringing together nearly 1,200 participants and raising over $84,000—making it the largest and most successful walk in our state’s history. Held on a sunny Sunday at the Detroit Zoo, the event highlighted friendship, inclusion, and the power of community.

The day began with heartfelt speeches from Ambassadors Rebecca and Nate, who shared how Best Buddies has impacted their lives. Their words reminded everyone why we walk: to build a more inclusive world for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

Special guests made the day extra memorable. Ten Michigan Football players attended—thanks to our partnership with Hail! Impact and Champions Circle—joining in the fun and making lifelong memories for our buddies. Characters like Elsa, Spiderman, and members of the 501st Legion (Star Wars) brought smiles to faces of all ages, while the Michigan Pualani Polynesian Dancers shared a beautiful dance performance. The Competition Corvette Club of Michigan showcased an impressive lineup of high-performance cars, drawing much excitement.

Our school teams showed incredible spirit. South Lyon High School led the way, raising over $10,000 and registering more than 160 walkers—demonstrating what student leadership can achieve. From energizing warm-ups to a walk through the zoo, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

This amazing day wouldn’t have been possible without our dedicated volunteers, board members, and community supporters. Thank you for helping us take steps toward a more inclusive Michigan.
