Celebrating the 2026 Advisor of the Year, Holly Schnittger

For nearly two decades, Holly Schnittger has been a driving force behind inclusion, friendship, and opportunity for students across Delaware. Now, after 18 years of unwavering dedication, she has been recognized as Best Buddies Delaware’s Advisor of the Year, an honor that reflects not only her longevity, but the profound impact she has made!

Throughout her teaching career at McKean High School, Holly has gone far beyond the classroom. She has built and sustained a thriving Best Buddies chapter with more than 60 members and 15 active matches, creating meaningful one-to-one friendships between students with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities. Her commitment ensures that every student feels seen, valued, and included always.

Holly’s leadership extends statewide. She has sat as a board member for Best Buddies in Delaware, where she helped shape programming and expand opportunities for students across the region. She is also the heart behind the annual Buddy Ball, an event she has proudly hosted for years.

Her dedication doesn’t stop there. Holly has consistently supported Special Olympics and has been a familiar, enthusiastic presence at major events such as Best Buddies Blue Rocks games and University of Delaware basketball games. Whether she’s organizing, cheering, or simply showing up, her energy and commitment are unmistakable.

In addition to all of this, Holly has balanced her work as a Best Buddies advisor with coaching cheerleading, further demonstrating her passion for student engagement and school spirit. She works tirelessly to create inclusive programming not only within her school, but across the state.
Holly Schnittger’s impact is immeasurable. Her compassion, leadership, and relentless advocacy have changed countless lives. The Best Buddies community—and indeed, all who know her—are incredibly fortunate to have her. Congratulations Holly on this well-deserved recognition!
