On October 8, 2026, Best Buddies in Alabama gathered at Park Crest Events in Hoover for an unforgettable evening celebrating friendship, inclusion, and the power of community at the annual Champion of the Year Gala. The special event brought together supporters, sponsors, families, and advocates who share a passion for creating a more inclusive Alabama for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

Guests began the evening with a cocktail hour filled with conversation, connection, and excitement. Attendees had the opportunity to mingle, celebrate the mission of Best Buddies, and share their commitment to building a community where everyone is valued, included, and given the opportunity to develop meaningful friendships. Throughout the night, guests enjoyed an exciting raffle and a collection of beautiful and creative auction items, generously donated to support the organization's mission.

One of the evening's highlights was a special appearance by Miss Alabama, who delighted guests with a musical performance and helped bring the spirit of inclusion to life. Another meaningful moment came during a mission spotlight featuring Jud Robinson and his buddy, Jud. Their story offered a heartfelt reminder of how friendship can change lives and why the work of Best Buddies in Alabama is so important.
