{"id":99937,"date":"2018-04-18T13:00:23","date_gmt":"2018-04-18T17:00:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bestbuddies.org\/?p=99937"},"modified":"2019-11-12T16:37:17","modified_gmt":"2019-11-12T21:37:17","slug":"bbfriendshipball2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bestbuddies.org\/2018\/04\/18\/bbfriendshipball2018\/","title":{"rendered":"Best Buddies South Florida to Host Friendship Ball at Marlins Park"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><em>Students Celebrate their Accomplishments in Service to the Best Buddies Mission<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>Miami, Florida, April 18, 2018\u2014<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bestbuddies.org\"><strong>Best Buddies International<\/strong><\/a>, a groundbreaking nonprofit founded in 1989 by <strong>Anthony Kennedy Shriver<\/strong> to <em>establish a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD)<\/em><em>,<\/em> is excited to announce the <strong><em>Best Buddies South Florida Friendship Ball <\/em><\/strong>on <strong>April 21<\/strong> at <strong>Marlins Park.<\/strong> The South Florida Friendship Ball is a prom-like event offered for free to South Florida\u2019s 73 school Friendship chapters.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">The Friendship Ball is a celebration of the over 600 one-to-one friendship matches made during the school year in South Florida and a thank you to the students and teachers for collectively giving over 120,000 hours of service to furthering the Best Buddies mission. The Ball also allows students of all abilities to enjoy an inclusive prom-like experience.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">The prom will run from 6:00pm-10:00pm and is expecting over 1,000 students with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities, their parents, and teachers, from schools participating in Best Buddies School Friendship and Promoter programs in Miami-Dade and Broward counties.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">This is a one-of-a-kind event where students come together in friendship for a magical night of dancing, and celebrating a successful school year!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><strong><u>ABOUT BEST BUDDIES INTERNATIONAL:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Best Buddies\u00ae is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
