Meet Buddy Ambassador, Nicolette Fenello
Hi, my name is Nicolette Fenello and I am a student at Slippery Rock University and I am part of the Rock Life Program which its a program for Individuals with Disabilities can experience the college life. I am a Junior at Slippery Rock University, and I am majoring in early education and special education. When I was a freshman here at college I helped and I first started the Rock Life Program. I love being part of the Rock Life Program because I love getting the experience on a college campus because it was my dream to come to college just like my brother and my sister. I wanted to follow their footsteps. That is when I found out about Best Buddies on this college campus. In high school I used to be in Best Buddies in 11th and 12th grade. When I was a freshman at college I started out to be an officer in Best Buddies and then Kelly Mitchell and Katie Profitt thought for my sophomore year I should be an Buddy Director so I was a Buddy Director. Then Kelly and Katie thought I should be a buddy director for my junior year so I am still the Buddy Director. This upcoming summer I went to Indiana, Indianapolis with Katie Profitt for the Best Buddies Conference and when I was on the bus she told me that you are going to be the first person with a disability at SRU to become an ambassador. I was shocked, and I was so excited. When I was in the conference I was picked to be one of the finalist to speak and I almost got picked to speak to 4,000 people there. It was a dream come true, and the conference made a huge impact in my life today. I wanted to say thank you so much to Kelly Mitchell and to Katie Profitt because they really saw my hard and my dedication and they really made a huge impact on my life today! I want to also call out to my mom(Suzanne), my dad(Mike) my sister (Caitlin),my sisters roommate ( Liana) my brother( Cody) and his Finance (Samantha) because they came to the friendship walk last semester to support me in Best Buddies and I am so thankful for their support and made a huge impact in my life today!
