BLOOM: The Musical
Beauty in BLOOM: Best Buddies Collaborative Musical Theater Project Shares Culminating Work. Best Buddies at Princeton University shows that Inclusion is not canceled.
Bloom: The Musical was written by Rosie Arbitter and developed in partnership with Best Buddies for Rosie’s senior thesis work at Princeton’s Music Theater department.
After workshops, auditions, and rehearsals, the live performance had to be canceled due to COVID-19. However, in the spirit of “the show must go on,” Rosie organized the cast of performers in a presentation of the musical’s title song, “Bloom” in quarantine.
A note from Rosie:
It was my hope that an inclusive musical theater experience would allow not only community members with disabilities the opportunity and encouragement to explore their own abilities and interests, but also provide Princeton student actors a deep knowledge of difference in addition to friendship and understanding.
