Courtney Hickman is the new Co-Chair of the Best Buddies Associate Board in Chicago. Courtney works alongside Co-Chair, Audrey Filipiak, and 15 young professionals to raise funds and awareness about Best Buddies. Courtney Graduated from Butler University with a Bachelor of Arts in Strategic Communications.
The month of May was busy with events and awareness initiatives. On Mother’s Day, Best Buddies Missouri was the beneficiary of the All Community Events Mother’s Day 5K & 10K at Forest Park. Mom’s were celebrated all morning and rewarded with a colorful rose and delicious cake pop as they crossed the finish line.
In April, Best Buddies Missouri hosted the 2nd Annual Best Buddies Friendship Walk at Creve Coeur Park. Over 500 participants celebrated our mission of friendship and social inclusion, raising nearly $75,000 for our programs. Special guests Senator Roy Blunt, Miss Missouri Sydnee Stottlemyre, and Olympic Champion and World Cup Champion, Lori Chalupny motivated participants with their words about what Best Buddies means to them and how friendships have helped shape them to become successful leaders for our state.
July 2016 was filled with new faces and amazing opportunities. Amanda Munk joined the Best Buddies team as the Program Manager for Friendship Programs, and chapter leaders and Ambassadors from New Mexico traveled to the beautiful Indiana University Campus in Bloomington, IN for the 27th Annual Best Buddies Leadership Conference.

On Saturday, June 11, the Best Buddies Advisory Board Programs Committee trained three new Buddy Ambassadors in “Finding their Voice.”
June marks the beginning of summer vacation for many students and they are often headed off to summer camp. Best Buddies Missouri was chosen as a charity partner for K.A.R.E. Camp for three sessions this summer.
(via Little Rock Family) When Caitlyn Fite began classes at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, part of her scholarship program required participation in an on-campus organization. She was immediately drawn to Best Buddies, a relatively new nonprofit in Arkansas that pairs typical and non-typical students in friendships.
