2nd Annual Best Buddies Friendship Walk at Creve Coeur Park Raises $75,000
In April, Best Buddies Missouri hosted the 2nd Annual Best Buddies Friendship Walk at Creve Coeur Park. Over 500 participants celebrated our mission of friendship and social inclusion, raising nearly $75,000 for our programs. Special guests Senator Roy Blunt, Miss Missouri Sydnee Stottlemyre, and Olympic Champion and World Cup Champion, Lori Chalupny motivated participants with their words about what Best Buddies means to them and how friendships have helped shape them to become successful leaders for our state.
With an early morning warm-up led by Heidi from Nutriformance, festivities were officially underway after the performance of our National Anthem by Darrius Roberts. The “Best Buddies Cheer” was enthusiastically led by area Sparkle Effect Cheerleaders, while Fred Bird and Louie the Lightening Bug guided participants to the starting line for the walk countdown.
There was lots of entertainment from AudioMac Productions, Circus Kaput, and included friendly games of corn hole. Participants replenished after the walk with Einstein’s Bagels, Bissinger’s Chocolates, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Bananas and healthy selections from Harvest Express Food Truck.
This year’s BBFW led to the start of 15 total Friendship Chapters this coming school year across the state. We know with the continued support from the Show-Me State, that number will continue to grow for generations.
