Best Buddies Citizen’s Partner Up with Stanford University Alumni Club in NYC
On Saturday, January 30th, a team of Best Buddies Citizens participants joined forces with an alumni group from Stanford University for a local community volunteer project. More than 20 volunteers gathered at Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf on the Upper East Side to construct nearly 100 birthday cards for home bound seniors in NYC. The special and festive cards will be distributed across New York City by DOROT, an organization supporting seniors and connecting generations of people in New York City and across the country. We had a great time mingling with the volunteer group from Stanford University and were able to engage new people in our mission of social inclusion for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are grateful for the support from the welcoming staff at Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, and extraordinarily grateful for the introduction to beverage menu item “Cookie Butter Blended Ice.”
We plan to coordinate more Citizen Impact Day events in 2016, please contact AliceDannenberg@bestbuddies.org if you would like to get involved with a service project, host a volunteer group at your organization or business, or for general inquiries about the Best Buddies Citizens program.
