Memphis Chapter President Awarded Scholarship
On Wednesday, May 5th, Arlington High School senior Carlie Carter was awarded a $500 dollar scholarship from the Arlington Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA). Each applicant was required to write an essay about the legacy they will leave behind and Carlie chose to reflect upon her experiences as the inaugural Best Buddies Chapter President at Arlington High School.
In her essay, Carlie was quoted as saying, “At AHS we were able to notice the impact we were having on the student bodies increased awareness and acceptance of students with disabilities and creating a more inclusive school environment. The invisible line that often separates those with disabilities from those without. As the first ever President of a brand new chapter at our school I feel as I will leave a legacy of service, selflessness and overall improved attitudes toward students with and without disabilities”.
The entire Tennessee state office is so proud of Carlie and are excited to see what she does in the future. Way to go, Carlie!
