Meet Mason Rumpf
“My life before Best Buddies was pretty much the same. But because of Best Buddies, I have more friends. It has taught me a bunch about how everyone is the same, no matter what happens. I have also learned to lead more. It’s awesome. I play power soccer. It’s awesome.
“I work at Hy-Vee and keep busy. I like to hang out with Mackayla, Sydney and Connor, my friends from Best Buddies. Im going to be in a play and I’ll also be racing again this year at the Special Olympics. I’m making a book that my staff can use to help me with my care. I’m also learning how to drive a joy stick wheelchair now. I’m hoping to get an Action Trak wheelchair so that I can start my own lawn care and snow removal business.
“Best Buddies has helped me become a better advocate for myself. It has helped me meet new friends and given me the opportunity to share with others about my life. We had disability awareness day at school, to end the “R” word. That was a fun day. We blindfolded people so it makes it hard for the students to see. I got to share a little bit about my disability with all of our health classes. I made a difference!”
