Boston, March 30, 2009 – Six Best Buddies Jobs participants teamed up with Chefs Barbara Lynch from No. 9 Park; Tom Fosnot from Rocca & Sapphire Restaurant Group; Maryann Saporito from Hola; Rachel Klein from Aura of the Seaport Hotel; Stephen Brand from Upstairs on the Square; and Robert Jean from Sorellina on March 26 for a preview of the High Gear Tailgate Gala, which proved to be a showcase of friendship and opportunity for people with intellectual disabilities.
The teams made stir-fry dishes for guests and prepared for the “Best Buddies Celebrity Chef Challenge,” which will take place during the Gala on Friday, May 29, 2009. At this event, teams will prepare gourmet cuisine for Gala guests, and compete against each other for the title of “Best of the Best Cuisine Team,” to be decided by a panel of celebrity judges.
The High Gear Tailgate Gala will kick-off the tenth annual Audi Best Buddies Challenge: Hyannis Port, a 100, 50, or 20 mile cycling fundraiser from Boston to Cape Cod, with new 5K run and 3K walk options. New England Patriots’ Quarterback Tom Brady will serve as Honorary Chair of the Challenge, which concludes with an exclusive clambake and private concert by the Bangles.The High Gear Tailgate Gala and the Audi Best Buddies Challenge: Hyannis Port benefit Best Buddies International.
